Lyubomyr Medvid

Born on July 10, 1941, in the town of Varyazh near Sokal (territory occupied by the German Wehrmacht). As a result of Operation Vistula in 1946, he was resettled to Ukraine

1959–1965: studied at the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (teachers: Witold Manastyrsky, Danylo Dovboshyński, Karlo Zvirynsky, Roman Selsky, and others) 

1970: member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine
1987 – awarded the title of Honored Artist
1999 – awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine
2001 – recognized as a professor
2002 – elected as a corresponding member
2004 – elected full member (academician) of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine
2014 – winner of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine
2009 – awarded the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, V degree, and in 2018 – IV degree. 
His teaching career spanned the years 1966-1970 and 1087-2021. 


He painted the following major series of works:

Terra Incognita, Ecce homo, Reminiscences, Parade of Parables, Genesis – 2010-2016.
Ad Hominem – 2016-2021
